I HAVE A FEW CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS WHO HAVE WRITTEN BOOKS! THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO THEM! SOME ARE INSPIRATIONAL, SOME ARE TRAGIC! I HAVE BEEN ASKED WHY DON’T I WRITE A BOOK ON YOUR TIME IN RADIO AND BEING A DJ? WELL I MIGHT JUST DO THAT…..IF I DID IT WOULD BE IN VOLUMES, AND I WOULD PROBABLY BE A WANTED MAN????

“HIDDEN FIGURES!” The American Dream and the untold story of women mathematicians who worked at the NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Va during the 1940’s-1960’s and helped win the space race! The book written by Margot Lee Shetterly is now a highly rated motion picture! Margot is the daughter of DHS-’61 graduate Margaret Giles Lee. “THREE MORE ON TIN” DuBois Miller’s second edition about his childhood memories growing up on Timbridge Hill! Be sure and also check out “TEN ON TIN,” and his first book “CELL TALES: RECOLLECTIONS OF A CORRECTIONAL EDUCATOR!” His first book is based on teaching and supervising educational programs throughout the prisons of Virginia! Well worth reading! 

“LESSONS CONTINUE” The Dunbar High School Legacy, was published as a result of extended research by students who participated in the Links Intercultural Institute in 2015. The following students researched the Dunbar High School collections papers and artifacts at the Lynchburg City Museum and interviewed former Dunbar high School teachers/staff Miss Carolyn Brown, Carolyn Langhorne, Jacqueline Early Taliaferro, the late Elaine Chafin Watson, and Otis tucker:
McKayla Warrick-University of Pennsylvania, Josh Price-George Mason University,
Joshua Franklin-Brookville High School, Austin Wayne-Amherst County high School, Christopher Ragland-Jefferson Forest High School, William Ragland-Jefferson Forest High School. As a result of their research and reviewing bios and stories of former Dunbar High School teachers. Approximately thirty abridged bios and stories highlight the book. Hermina W. Hendricks and Christine Petticolas served as editors. books are free for making a $50.00 donation to the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust earmarked for the Dunbar High School Legacy fund!
